A Message from Our President
What a year! What a rollercoaster ride that has changed the world around us. Through it all, I hope that you, your loved ones, and your peers are safe and well.
I’ve never experienced an event with such a drastic impact on how we live and work as the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been overwhelming. Nevertheless, I don’t want to spend time recounting all that we have experienced this year or consider all that remains to be seen through yearend. Now more than ever, we must do the right things and be safely prepared to take steps beyond what we’re typically required to do.
On that note, I want to thank all of you. Each of you has overwhelming and unquestionable strength. I have heard of the new and creative ways, from a distance, that you have encouraged and provided support to one another. You have shared ideas on how to find space within your homes to continue to worship God intimately, individually and gathered as a family when safely possible. I continue that practice as well because scripture says, “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
I pray you will continue with your messages of gratitude, acts of generosity and words of encouragement toward one another and for all the many individuals we know are truly essential workers. Let’s not be distracted, let’s not criticize others or allow stress to creep into our lives. As the scientists and medical professions focus their energy on defeating this pandemic and challenges associated with it, we must take to heart our individual efforts to stay safe, do what we can to “flatten the curve” and not spread the infection. Moreover, we MUST take heart through our faith, because inspiration is contagious too.
Pray the rosary. Wear your mask. Stop the spread. Stay home and save lives. I cannot thank you enough for keeping these measures.
Peace be with you!
Joan Billingham, President
